10 Inspirations Star Wars Rogue One Will Take From The Dark Forces Franchise

Mon Mothma is unquestionably the most important figure within the Rebel Alliance. Most casual viewers have no idea who she is or the monumental role she played during the galactic conflict against the Empire. While all of her Legends backstory has been erased in favor of the new Canon, Mon Mothma has the potential to play a bigger on screen role than ever before.

In the Dark Forces franchise, Mon Mothma was the Rebel contact Kyle Katarn and Jan Ors answered to for all of their covert missions. This was the first time the character saw a greater expansion since the minimal part she played in Return of the Jedi, where she went over the war plans for the assault on the second Death Star.

With the exception of her minimalist role in Return of the Jedi and a few deleted scenes from Revenge of the Sith, the future is bright for the Mon Mothma character.

The fact that actress Genevieve O'Reilly, whom portrayed the character in Revenge of the Sith, is back to reprise the role is a hopeful confirmation we could see the leader in future spin-off films. It's assumed she'll have a bigger role than what was originally planned in Revenge of the Sith, while expanding on the greater cause of the Rebel Alliance.
