10 Insultingly Bad Video Game Movie Characters
8. Animus (Assassin's Creed)
The Animus isn't technically a video game character, but it's such a large part of the Assassin's Creed series and it's redesign was so ridiculous, I just had to include it.
In the video game series, the Animus lets users experience their ancestors' memories, unlocking the ability to jump real good, climb stuff like a monkey and find magical tech items sent down by Godlike, pre-human aliens.
Because video games.
The apparatus itself is a small table you lay down on. The series changes it slightly as the games go on, but it's root idea stays the same -- a small thing you lay in that you, Matrix-like, jack into.
But then the movie decided that didn't make any sense.
For the movie, the character is still jacked into it - and in the film it looks decidedly more mechanical than any advanced tech - but it's also a giant arm that throws the person around. Yes, when you're in the animus in the film, you actually are running around and doing all of that stuff.
Think of a VR game, except there's a gigantic arm holding you as you run around a room and jump off of ceilings.
The similarities between them is that... they both use electricity?
