10 Intense Video Game Horror Chase Sequences

7. Verdugo - Resident Evil 4

Less than the time it takes to brew a cuppa you'll spend sparring with Salazar's Right Hand, but boy, what a playdate it is.

Stuffed into a narrow corridor and tasked with activating an escape elevator following an unrequested one-way trip down an elevator shaft, Leon has to employ his skills as a gymnast (is there anything our boy can't do?!) to dodge metal shearing pokes and prods from...whatever that thing is, to flip all the necessary switches.

And just when you thought the encounter was nothing more than a QTE gauntlet, the Las Plagas abomination sheds its royal robes and proceeds to reveal a knack for moving at blistering speeds. Oh, and its skin deflects bullets. How lovely. Then it dawns on you. Those liquid nitrogen canisters riveted to the walls can actually slow the beast long enough for you to make an escape.

Or, you know, forego the tense set-piece and simply lodge an RPG in the beast's disgusting face. Whatever works for you.
