10 Intense Video Game Multiplayer Modes You Won't Survive
1. Bomb - Rainbow Six: Siege
For my money, Rainbow Six: Siege is the cream of the crop when it comes to tactical, squad-based multiplayer shooters. The distinction between attackers and defenders is what makes the experience so special, and the amount of different Operators you can choose from to slightly alter how you deal with the firepower of enemies means there's so many subtle variations for you to get to grips with.
The core gunplay is already intense enough, with deadly weapons resulting in firefights that usually only last a second or two until one of you is thrown back to the squad screen to wait for the next round, but it's the addition of gadgets, and the unreliability of your surroundings, that make matches so intense.
Sitting around in a fortified room, waiting for the enemy team to arrive, always brings with it a palpable sense of fear whether it's your first or hundredth match. Ubisoft utilise the sound design to really ramp up the suspense as well, and from the flurry of a Fuse device pumping explosives into the room to the sizzle of a breaching charge before it blows a hole in your fortified wall, Siege understands that the anticipation is just as important as the payoff.
