10 Interesting But Underused Creatures In Dungeons And Dragons

I’m sure many of you would agree that spiders are creepy. I know they’re a vital part of the ecosystem, and I can admire them from afar but I don’t want one on me. Do you know what is even creepier than a spider? A humanoid spider. Their black chitinous claws and spider-like faces make them a horrific image for any arachnophobe. Enter the Ettercap

There is only one plus to these creatures, they are not very intelligent and rather cowardly. This doesn’t for a second stop them being vicious, though. Ettercaps like there spider counterparts prefer to be ambush predators. They are often found setting traps of webs to ensnare their victims before attacking them.

Ettercaps not only look like spiders but they also seem to have some sort of affinity towards them. They have been observed keeping groups of them as a human would keep bees. Some larger species of arachnids have become attached to the Ettercaps themselves, maintaining what seems like a relationship a human would have for their dog.

Your party may laugh at the thought of Ettercaps. They aren’t that strong of a creature after all. But when they travel through the wrong cave and suddenly become trapped by webs, they will think twice about what they said.
