10 iPad Games That Are As Good As Anything On Consoles Right Now

1. Monument Valley

Recently spotted whiling away the hours for psychopathic US President Frank Underwood in House of Cards, Monument Valley has quickly become something of a tablet gaming sensation - with good cause as well. A shed load of design awards already in the bag, it's likely to run and run as a franchise. Set in an almost Escher-esque series of castles and gardens, the game follows a pointy-hatted protagonist as she scurries her way through a series of living geometric puzzles. The game encourages its players to think outside the bounds of usual physics, and paths often open up by simply changing the angle they're being viewed at. Seriously, think Escher paintings and staircases that can be climbed infinitely, and you'll start to get a grasp of how its constructed. The story, as with the game, is a little on the insubstantial side and it's clear that you're paying the money for the quality of the product, not the duration of it. That being said though, it's unique, challenging, relaxing and simply gorgeous to both look at and play, and if you're yet to join the 2.5million people to download the game then get it urgently on your to-do list.
