10 iPad Games That Are As Good As Anything On Consoles Right Now
4. Infinity Blade 3
Frequently shown off in Apple's own adverts as the flashiest example of what the iPad can do, Infinity Blade has returned for a third instalment of swipe and slash action. If you're not familiar by now (understandable as the previous instalments were a little light on plot) the story pits a few noble warriors against endless hordes of nasties and a few gargantuan beasts and gods. Skill and crafting systems give IB3 a genuine RPG feel, and it's clear that with this third instalment of the franchise has blossomed from a visually gorgeous slasher to a fully-realised epic. It still follows the formula of entering an area, taking on an entire army of fodder, squaring up to their boss, and then moving onto the next level, but these combat sections are now so well broken up by the story and the other features that it never feels repetitive. Infinity Blade has become the gold standard for tablet gaming since its initial release, and over a year since the third instalment dropped on the App Store it's still clear to see why. It's also arguably the closest tablets have to a modern console game, and even taking on the XBox 360 and PS3 on their own turf it stands up to scrutiny. Developer: Chair EntertainmentPrice: £4.99
