10 Items That BROKE Video Games
2. Zip Lines - Death Stranding
For better or worse, it is accurate to describe Death Stranding as a hiking sim. Without it, there just isn't a game there. It would be like turning every Super Mario Bros. level into a flat plain.
The core gameplay loop is what makes progression satisfying. For all the trudging across rocks and mountains and running from BTS, you feel accomplishment with every milestone. As you go you'll unlock new ways to make traveling easier, consisting of personal equipment and the infrastructure you develop with fellow players.
Chief among these is the zip line. Bridge a couple of these together and now you no longer need to find a way around that huge ravine or through the timefall zone, meaning to can nab those S-rank deliveries. Combined with the online aspect of the game, it doesn't take long for players to build entire networks of zip lines, making your hiking boots obsolete... along with, you know - gameplay.
Now you're basically just grinding. You pick up cargo, head to a zip line, check your phone, and there you are. You never have to really play the game a whole lot ever again.
Getting to hear BB giggle almost makes it worth it though.
