10 Most Jaw-Dropping Moments From The Major E3 Press Conferences

2. The $139 PlayStation TV Undercuts The Steam Box And Ouya

Modern gaming just got a whole lot cheaper. The recently announced PlayStation TV is 99 Dollars for just the box, and only $139 for the box, some storage, a controller, and a copy of The Lego Movie game, which is...a strange bonus. There's also the promise that if you have a PS4 you'll be able to stream games over WiFi to it as well. You'll also have access to pretty much the entirety of the PSN store, as it will run classic games, some modern PS3 games, and every Vita game there is. Plus, it'll be fully compatible with the aforementioned PlayStation Now streaming service, which means if you have a fast internet connection you may never need to buy another gaming console again. Pretty amazing, right? Simply put, Sony just beat Valve, Apple, Ouya, and even Microsoft to the punch when it comes to a single set-top-box that rules them all. Connect this sucker to your iPad via a converter cable, and you suddenly have every single thing you could ever want from a secondary gaming console. Whether or not the platform will be as open as the Ouya is to allow for emulation remains to be seen, but regardless, for a gamer on a budget, or a gamer looking for a device for the home office, or to take on the road, this holiday season there simply isn't a better choice than the PlayStation TV.
