10 Most Jaw-Dropping Moments From The Major E3 Press Conferences

10. Dead Rising 3's Capcom DLC

Yes. This is a thing. This is a thing you can go and buy and play and experience right now. Is it any good? Who knows. Does it matter? Not really. In addition to being completely insane, Capcom knows a hit franchise when they see it, and they're happy to exploit those franchises in any way they can, be it in cross-over fighting games, strange Resident Evil spin offs, or in this case, a mainstay Capcom franchise like Dead Rising getting puked on by all kinds of stuff from other, inexplicably dormant Capcom franchises, like Mega Man. Reacting to this announcement with a "huh?" then bewilderment akin to a watching a squirrel jet-ski is perfectly okay. It's all the more brain-melting because of all the Dead Rising games, Dead Rising 3 seems to take itself the most seriously. It's in a typically 'realistic' world where everything is brown and gray and sun-bleached, the gruesome fall-out of the Zombie Apocalypse is omnipresent literally everywhere you go. Compare this to the insane and colorful playground that was The Fortune City Strip and The Willamette Shopping Mall, and it seems picking this game for this kind of DLC is like a cow with riddles written on its tummy. Udderly baffling. Who specifically is this content for, and what does it bring to the Dead Rising 3 table? Who knows. If the only purpose this announcement served was to give gamers worldwide a collective pause to check their pulse and make sure they weren't having a stroke, it was a noble purpose indeed. Sometimes, we all forget games are supposed to be fun. And sometimes fun comes from combining the peanut butter that is Dead Rising 3 with the cotton candy necklace that is a smattering of Capcom-related content, and seeing what sticks to your ribs.
