2. A Train To Catch - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

The second installment in developer Naughty Dog’s prestigious third-person action series is considered by many to be the best of the franchise. It pushed the limits of the PS3, providing one stellar action scene after another, chief among them being the entire train sequence halfway through the game.

From the moment this scene begins it is a thrill ride. As Nathan Drake you are forced to navigate your way towards the front of the train, fending off attackers all while the surrounding environment passes you by at a hundred miles an hour. It is visually stunning and impeccably paced; a tour de force of level design that gives you just enough room play and experiment while still remaining a narratively driven linear experience.

The sequence builds from one high octane moment after another until, thanks to some conveniently placed propane tanks, Drake derails the back of the train with him on it, thus providing context to the literal cliffhanger that opened the game. From beginning to end this section of Uncharted 2 is incredibly entertaining and exhilarating, especially because you care about the story and characters surrounding it.
