10 Lazy Mission-Types Every Gamer Hates

2. The Vehicle Mission

Perhaps most prevalent in the shooter genre, this mission-type places the unsuspecting player in a vehicle as a one-off gameplay modifier. The obvious issues that arise from this sudden shift in gameplay are innumerable, but suffice it to say that shoddily implemented driving mechanics and tunnel-vision level design play a significant part in ruining these sequences. Vehicular missions force the player (who has just perfected one set of controls) to swiftly adopt an entirely new set of controls, all the while battling with the unwieldy, weightless driving mechanics. So startling is this clash of gameplay mechanics that any semblance of momentum that might have existed before is quickly lost to minutes of button fumbling and head scratching while you awkwardly collide with every object in sight. Of course when you do finally manage to reign the controls in, you'll find yourself trapped on a path so straightforward and obvious that it's a wonder the developers bothered to give you steering controls in the first place.
