10 Legend Of Zelda Secrets You Still Haven’t Discovered
9. Erdrick's Grave (Zelda II)
There's a black sheep in the Hyrule pen and it's called Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. Back in 1987, the series was still finding its feet so Nintendo decided to try something different with the sequel and experiment with side-scrolling gameplay.
In some ways, it paid off. Zelda II was critically acclaimed in its day and it gave adventure fanatics a vast world to explore, packed with no fewer secrets than its top-down predecessor. The majority of the complaints you'll hear about the game are related to its insane level of difficulty.
If you've got the guts to revisit this brutal sequel today, check out this cool Easter egg hidden in the town of Saria. You'll find a small graveyard there, and on the third tombstone from the left, the inscription reads 'Here lies Erdrick'.
Japanese RPG enthusiasts will get this reference. Erdrick is the name of the protagonist in the English-language version of the original Dragon Quest series, which was a major competitor to Zelda back in the day. Nintendo killing off its lead character was likely a bit of friendly, inter-studio banter.
