Pokemon Red and Blue are games that many of us associate with childhood, and therefore a period of our lives when we were particularly suggestible to hoaxes - particularly if they entailed catching the legendary 151st Pokemon, Mew. The legend, myth, pile of bullsh*t, whatever you want to call it, went that you needed to get together some Pokemon with the Surf, Strength and Cut abilities. You then surfed over to the truck next to the S.S. Anne in Vermillion City, slashed its tyres, then pushed it using the Strength ability. A Mew would then jump out from under the car like a startled cat and attack you. The fact that you couldn't slash the truck's tyres or indeed push it (wouldn't it have been easier to push with non-slashed tyres?) didn't stop this myth from misguiding gamers for years. As it happens, Mew was obtainable in Pokemon Red and Blue thanks to a glitch that involved carrying out a similarly random set of actions, so in fairness the idea of this being real wasn't completely unbelievable.
