8. You Can Shoot The Dog (On Console Versions Of The Game) - Duck Hunt
The Duck Hunt Dog frequently tops lists of the most annoying video game characters, and for damn good reason: the smugly chuckling canine infuriatingly pops up to mock the player whenever they fail to shoot a duck.
The character irritated everyone enough that a popular rumour suggested it was possible for skilled players to actually shoot the Dog and shut him up once and for all.
Sadly this isn't actually true, at least on the home versions of the game that most people have played. And so, anyone who has ever claimed to have shot the Dog on a console version of Duck Hunt is, well, talking nonsense.
However, it is possible to shoot the Dog on the arcade version, Vs. Duck Hunt, during a bonus round.
Still, given how utterly inaccessible this iteration of the game is to 99.8% of players, most of us will sadly never get a chance to pop the Dog with some lead.
