While a Far Cry set on a space colony should be a more realistic affair, integrating fairly believable physics and locations, a Far Cry shooter set in the far, far future would be a wilder, more OTT experience.

Imagine exploring a world of flying cars, plasma rifles, robots, and even aliens with the familiar Far Cry gameplay. Perhaps the game still features an island, but rather a floating disc hovering above a sprawling city below, with players asked to find a way down to their home. Stealth and vehicles introduce bizarre physics and gameplay elements, with cars taking to the sky and equipped with invisibility-tech, while weapons can blow enemies into molecules or pull them into black holes.

With nothing off the table, Ubisoft would have the freedom to make anything and everything possible €“ alien invasions and time travel offer fantastic narrative potential. Biotechnology might lead to body-augmentations in the vein of Deus Ex, making the player's body a weapon in itself. Eyes shooting lasers, blades emerging from wrists, an ability to breathe fire €“ the game should go anywhere, giving players a unique gaming experience far beyond anything the series has done before.

Which time-period would you love to visit using the Far Cry mould? Let us know in the comments!
