10 Long Video Games That Fall Apart At The VERY End
8. Days Gone
Days Gone is a good game. Sure, it doesn't really innovate outside of either the open world or zombie genre, but that's not a bad thing. It's got a gorgeous world to explore, building Deacon's bike into some sort of magnum opus is fun, and the horde moments can be dicey.
The story is arguably what fuels the negativity at it, as is Deacon's gruff persona-type thing. However, as a whole, it can be a blast. That is, until the final act.
In brief, Deacon has been searching for his presumed-dead wife, then learns she's alive at a militia base. He's already been through a fair bit, so naturally you'd be right in thinking that finding her would be the token "happy ending".
But far from it, as the game tacks on more excuses to backtrack to previous areas, shoehorn in some unnecessary betrayals and basically try and get some more mileage out of players (bike pun intended).
Which is a shame, as it completely flattens the late-game twist that would have been more exciting sooner, had we not just had more repetition thrown at us for the last few hours.
