8. It's Too Easy To Lose Your Companions
Fallout 4 introduced a supporting cast of excellent characters for you to explore the Boston wastes with. These are readily interchangeable at most stages once they've agreed to join your journey, but in practice it doesn't always work out that way.
While dismissing a companion gives you the option to send them to a specific location or settlement, they often become very difficult to find again later on. They have a bit of a mind of their own once they get back to where they're meant to be, and most have a tendency to roam.
In my experience, Dogmeat and Preston are the worst; Preston seems to always stumble across raiders or ghouls to engage with, whilst Dogmeat virtually never stays in one place despite me moving his dog-house to a memorable spot on multiple occasions.
These disappearing acts wouldn't be so bad if there was a way of tracking the fellow survivors, but the map offers no support and there's no communication option to recall them. Spending ten minutes trying to track down a missing quest helper is not my idea of Fallout fun...
