10 Major Missteps By Video Game Companies

7. "Do You Guys Not Have Phones?" - Diablo: Immortal

Warcraft 3
Blizzard

Blizzard steps onto our list for a second (and worryingly not the last) time.

Hinting at a Diablo-related announcement in the months up to Blizzcon 2018 - and charging $200 a ticket - fans were expecting to finally be given an announcement for Diablo 4. Fans packed into the audience and the atmosphere was palpable.

When Blizzard finally took to the stage to announce a new Diablo phone game, one clearly looking towards the more mobile friendly Chinese market, you could hear the beads of sweat dripping from the announcers forehead.

Clearly misreading the situation, he asked the bewildered audience "do you guys not have phones". Things went from bad to worse when a disappointed fan took to the microphone during the Q&A to ask "is this an April fools joke?", to which he was applauded by the audience.

To charge your fans so much money and not deliver is a display of supreme disrespect.

Diablo Immortal is already dead in the western market, blizzard stock fell by 7% and the trailers are some of the most down voted videos in you tube's history. A company once so beloved by its fans has fallen so far from its peak that many are turning to boycotts.
