10 Mandatory Video Games Every Xbox One Owner Needs

2. Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Backwards compatibility is lacking on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, so consumers are seeing a whole bunch of last gen titles being re-released on the current gen consoles with 'Definitive Edition' or 'Complete Edition' tags. A cynic would view these re-releases as developers cashing in on a gaming trend but there are games out there that prove the remaster tag doesn't automatically mean "cheap and lazy port" - the Master Chief Collection might be the most high profile of these games. An Anniversary version of Halo 2 was never going to surprise us (the game is currently celebrating ten years of life) but when Microsoft unveiled the Master Chief Collection at this year's E3, many fists were thrown in the air in delight. The collection brings the first four Halo titles (excluding Halo Reach) to the Xbox One in glorious high-definition, along with every multiplayer map ever created for the series - that's a whole lot of content. The jewel in the crown, of course, is Halo 2 Anniversary. The campaign is still a blast and the re-worked multiplayer maps offer a neat hint towards the future of the series. Features like cross-game playlists (which combine missions from across all four games) help seasoned veterans get back into the swing of things and if you've yet to touch a Halo game, there's literally never been a better opportunity.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
