10 Massively Misleading Trailers NOTHING Like The Final Game

10. Aliens: Colonial Marines

Yeah, you knew this one was making an appearance so let’s just get it out of the way now and then we can talk about a game you probably actually like.

The 2013 FPS by Gearbox Software has garnered so much hate over the years that it’s pretty much a meme at this point. Expectations were set so high by all of the pre-release marketing, namely the trailers which depicted extraordinarily tense encounters with the titular aliens. The trailer is a genuinely chilling work of art showing the nigh-on hopeless struggle of the soldiers in their fight against one of fiction's greatest villains and if the game had delivered it would have been an absolute masterpiece.

It’s actually sort of depressing that the game in that trailer doesn’t exist because what we got instead was a buggy mess with really average graphics and a boring story.

Not to mention the fact that the game also appeared to have committed the cardinal sin of being released unfinished. Saying this one was lacking in polish is a really nice way of putting it.
