4. Dark Void - The Jet Pack Combat
Dark Void would be considered a mundane third-person shooter on the ground and a rudimentary combat flight simulator in the air, but with the ability to hop between these two styles along with vertical combat as you cling to walls, it becomes so much more than it should be.
The combat is all anyone ever remembers about the game with critics harshly bashing nearly all other aspects of it. You can freely fly through the vast levels at your leisure with satisfying control. You can hover to get a better shot off at targets, adjust your speed, and also smoothy transition to the ground easily
You can climb up vertical walls for cover-based combat from a different perspective, then your back to the skies for more dogfights against UFOs. It all feels like the Uncharted series but with a jetpack, and it's a darn shame these mechanics couldn't have been used in a better game.
From the ace flying to the vertical combat that messes with your sense of direction beautifully, it all seriously extended your enjoyment of a pretty bog-standard shooter in all other regards.
