10 Mistakes Video Game Franchises Made TWICE

7. Overly Long Intros - Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2

When gamers think of overly long intros in games, they typically think of the Bethesda Fallout games. While those intros do drag on, the torchbearer for endless opening acts are the Kingdom Hearts games.

The longest that the intros for Fallout 3 and 4 got before the game opened up was about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, the first two Kingdom Hearts games take at least an hour each before you're finally let loose onto the game. It's 30 minutes in the first game before you even see the title card

While both games' intros serve to imbue the player with a sense of place - helping them to understand exactly what protagonists Sora and Roxas care about and why before it's ripped away from them - you could've cut that time in half and still had the same effect. Especially the intro for KHII which can run some players upwards of two hours.

Fortunately, this was one problem that Kingdom Hearts 3 managed to solve, starting with a bang and then keeping that energy up for the rest of the game.
