Anyone who's played a Half-Life game will surely be aware of the shady interdimensional figure known as the G-Man, who typically shows up at the beginning and/or end of most Half-Life games to interact with protagonist Gordon Freeman.

But Half-Life 2: Episode Two sees a rare mid-game appearance from the G-Man, where he employs his ambiguous supernatural abilities to freeze time and speak to Gordon.

While the alien creatures known as the vortigaunts are busily healing a badly wounded Alyx Vance, G-Man interjects to chat with Gordon, even joking that stopping time while Alyx is being healed probably wasn't the most opportune choice of moment.

G-Man's cryptic monologue suggests Alyx's importance in the bigger picture of the story, before he turns his attention to Alyx herself, implanting a message in her subconscious, that she must tell her father Eli to "prepare for unforeseen consequences."

After this, G-Man disappears and time un-freezes, with neither the vortigaunts nor Alyx having any conscious idea of what happened.
