10 More Great Video Games Based On Movies
9. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game
Scott Pilgrim, along with its film adaptation, took inspiration from video games with The Legend of Zelda-like dreams to the use of Bob-Omb for the titular character's band. It makes sense then that the property inspired by the medium would spawn a video game of its own.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was released in 2011 in conjunction with the Edgar Wright film. The title is inspired by the 8-bit beat 'em ups of the past and allows you to play as Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Kim Pine, and Stephen Stills.
Combat is extremely satisfying with an upgrade system for your moveset as well as special abilities such as summoning Knives Chau. Scott Pilgrim also features a multiplayer mode where four players can share the fun which was the optimal way to play the game. Stylistically, the title recreates Bryan Lee O'Malley's art into pixel form while chiptune-based band Anamanaguchi provides the soundtrack.
Much like the film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World serves as a love letter to video games of the past. It was even beloved enough to receive a remaster in 2020 which was released on current generation consoles.
