10 More Great Video Games That Never Got Sequels

9. Syphon Filter

Syphon Filter, as a series, could have gone on to greater things. Whilst it was a stealth/action title, it was a different entity to the redefining Metal Gear Solid a year prior. The adventures of Gabe Logan and crew with massive, sequel-arcing stories about potential real world espionage and action.

The first two were cracking, for their time, whilst that good ol' law of diminishing returns hit by the third game, causing a bit of a slide. The reins were passed from 989 Studios to Bend, who have since gone on to redeem themselves with Days Gone (more on that below), but Syphon Filter started to suffer in quality in the later days.

Considering series protagonist Logan was left with an ambiguous fate all the way back in 2007's Logan's Shadow, it would be tricky to discern where to pick up from (just not a prequel though, please).

Given that Days Gone does drop hints that the Syphon Filter virus is the cause of the epidemic in that world, maybe we could see what events led to it?
