6. Sega GTX Online - No Transferring From Previous Versions

The tendency of video games to hit the hard reset on all your progress upon the release of a suspiciously similar follow-up is a source of much consternation, as you're effectively asked to repeat the process with some added bells and whistles. So wouldn't it be good - and we're not sure why this isn't a more common feature - if you could import all your trinkets from the last iteration into the new one, and cut out the grind?

That's what adoptees of Sega GT 2002 sequel Sega GT Online were looking forward to, thanks to a bit of blurb on the game's box which boasted that the internet edition would invite a motorcade from the previous version to its new garages. It sounded too good to be true, and indeed, it was. Though it was possible to transfer goods and currency between games, the old cars had to stay strictly in parking gear.
