10 More Video Game Mistakes Left In To Troll You
7. Shady Sands Shuffle - Fallout Series
Reverse-pickpocketing, also known as the Shady Sands Shuffle, kicked off with an unintended mechanic that has carried through the Fallout series. Said mechanic involves pickpocketing, where a successful check results in your target’s inventory opening up. Generally you’d pick things out of their pockets like a candy store and be on your merry way.
In this instance, though, you could also drop something into the pockets of an unsuspecting passerby. Say, a primed bomb, or something.
Should you decide to do this, the timer would eventually run out and you’d effectively execute the least chill sneak attack possible in a Fallout game that’s still technically a sneak attack. This was possible in Fallout 1 and 2 but certainly not expected or accounted for and would often crash the game. In Fallout 3, however, Bethesda was onto you. They left the mistake in but the target would panic before exploding and you’d gain bad Karma unless the foe was already hostile.
Kills executed this way are recorded as Pants Exploded figures and they contribute toward the Psychotic Prankster achievement.
