10 Most Addictive Video Games Of 2017 (So Far)

8. Cuphead

Cuphead Genie
Studio MDHR

In development for years (going all the way back to 2010), anticipation for Cuphead was incredibly high when it finally released earlier this year. While players were ready for its amazing art style and imaginative boss battles after such a long wait, nobody had any idea just how brutally difficult the game was going to be.

Starting from the very first mission, the title proves that it's not as cuddly as it appears. Killing you over and over and over again until you finally get lucky enough to make it to the finish line through trial and error, the title has more in common with Mega Man than Mario.

While banging your head repeatedly off a wall until you finally break through to the other side covered in your own blood might not sound like your thing, the infectiously upbeat music and effortless charm of the art style stops the platformer from ever feeling too punishing.

Where you might have gotten frustrated in other games, in Cuphead you only get more energised to throw yourself back to the wolves with every new death.
