7. Injustice 2

In a world where fighting games are content with doing the bare minimum to attract a player's attention, the developers at NetherRealm are the one saving grace. Packing their games with excellent story modes, comprehensive multiplayer suites and a wealth of bonus missions and activities to accomplish, the studio's fighting games always give you a reason to return for another brawl.

With this year's Injustice 2, the devs have outdone even themselves. Not only creating the definitive DC fighting game and a main campaign that makes the best use of its superhero license, the inclusion of customisable characters completely shook up the way fans played the sequel.

Going further than purely including additional skins, the sequel added a system where players could unlock new attire for characters that not only cosmetically changed their appearance, but fundamentally altered their stats. Consequently, players were encouraged to personalise these fighters in a way that best suited them, jumping into every mode to increase their chances of getting the gear they wanted.

Thankfully, it helped that there was plenty to do in these modes too, and even without the added loot grind, Injustice 2 would have stolen countless hours of your life just by having so much stuff to do.
