Combees in general are a colossal faff to get, and the males can’t even evolve. Like Wimpod, they’re not much use on their own, but while Vespiquen isn’t as good as Golisopod, it’s still a viable team member.

Probably not worth it on a casual playthrough, but again, completionists will be pulling their hair out with this one.

To even encounter it, you need to smear Honey on a Yellow Tree, then wait six hours. No, you can’t cheese it by changing the DS clock either. This in itself isn’t even a guarantee of a Combee, as the likes of Aipom are attracted to the Honey too.

If you are lucky enough to find a Combee though, it’s still not done toying with you. There’s only a 12.5% chance it will be female; Pokémon does love weird percentages, after all.

If you’re lucky enough (or determined enough to rinse and repeat and repeat...), you will get a Vespiquen. Once you come up against a Rock type and get crushed under that four times weakness though, you’ll wonder why you even bothered in the first place.
