10 Most Anticipated 2013 Video Games That Are Still To Come
4. Batman: Arkham Origins Though Rocksteady Studios is not behind the next installment of the Batman series, the directors of the previous two games vow that the game, which is a prequel, does the series justice. With such a high bar set by the two previous titles, Warner Brothers Games Montréal better live up to its promise. The games did something that few can do: it kept fans of the comics, fans of the movies, and fans of superhero games satisfied. From the looks of the cinematic trailer though, the next chapter of our favourite caped crusader looks promising. For starters, this game looks like as if it could give Christopher Nolan a run for his money. The artistic direction keeps to the strong noir theme of the comics and movies, while mixing in more than a smidgen of cinematics. The result is a game with lovely graphics, super characterisation, great voice acting and a noteworthy plot, enough to keep gamers immersed for hours on end. The story campaign of the game is set before the events that transpired and led to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. In this version, Batman is portrayed as young, raw and unrefined. A diamond in the rough. His crime-fighting days have just begun and even Gotham Police are unsure of which side he's on. He lets being superior to the normal thugs in the city get to his head, and in the middle of Winter on Christmas Eve, he is met with his match. A far more powerful and sadistic kind of villain: Black Mask (AKA Roman Sionis). Black Mask has grown his underground empire and uses his immense wealth and far-reaching resources to put a hit out on Batman. Villains such as Deadshot, Joker and many more, make an appearance in the game. Gameplay is said to share many similarities with the previous games, but also features improved graphics, game physics and most excitedly, gadgets. You now have access to the Remote Claw, which enables you to pull enemies or objects together and knock them out. Even more impressive is the adding of a fast-travel system with the addition of the ability to remotely call your Batwing! And even though you may not be able to control it, it still is pretty damn cool. Regular side missions have also stayed on but with a twist. Instead of helping political prisoners or just beating up thugs for fun, now you can perhaps help GCPD officers who have been kidnapped , all in order to change your reputation within the police department, to that of an ally. The XP system will still be in place, with upgrades being available through completion of a set amount of XP. Batman: Arkham Origins may seem identical to the previous games, but it is not. It is far more than that. It is a refreshed Batman game, with emphasis being placed on how Batman came to be; his struggles, his defining moments and most importantly, the relationships he fostered with other characters such as Alfred. The Dark Knight will be gliding to PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PCs on October 25th 2013. While it is unclear as of now if it is to be released on next-gen consoles, the game is undoubtedly going to be enjoyed regardless of what generation is runs on, or which generation it is played by.
