10 Most Anticipated Features In Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Why are we all so damn excited about the wind and our player characters kneecaps?
Animal Crossing has been a beloved series amongst gamers for nearly two decades, with four main games, three spin-offs and even a role in Super Smash Bros! You would need to be living under a rock to have never heard of this cute little social simulator.
Whether you've been a fan of the series since the game's debut in 2001, or have just opened your very own campsite in the mobile app, you're bound to be gearing up for the newest instalment. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is set to be released on the Switch in less than three weeks, and it's shaping up to be the most extensive and entertaining iteration yet.
Thanks to Tom Nook himself, and his appearance in numerous Animal Crossing Directs, we now know that the makers of Animal Crossing have been listening to our cries for new features and returning characters. The new game is packed full of different types of content that fans have been dreaming about since Animal Crossing: New Leaf was released eight years ago. Now that it's becoming a reality, we can't wait to get our hands on it.
10. Choosing Your Island's Layout
While this option has somewhat been available in previous games, we've never had this much freedom in designing the base location for our player character to move into. In previous games, you would be given a simple option to choose between four images. These showed the same size of town, but allowed you to select which placement of shops and bridges you preferred.
Now, however, it's a whole new ballpark. Or island.
When setting up your new game, you will still get the classic four image option. However, you will now be able to pick between a set of completely different islands, each with an entirely different shape, layout and, location of lakes running through your new home. Plus, it'll be up to you to decide where villagers are allowed to build their houses! So no more destroyed flower beds that you spent hours perfecting.
