10 Most Badass Backstories In Mortal Kombat History
7. Johnny Cage
Though thought of as the comic relief character of the series; there are few Kombatants with more credentials than Johnny Cage. This may surprise a lot of people; but you need to think about it from a real world perspective. An action movie star trained by great martial arts masters from around the world and fed up with being perceived as a phoney who relied too much on camera tricks and stunt work; Johnny entered the Shaolin Tournament on Shang Tsung's island to prove himself as a fighter. That's the equivalent of the likes of Chuck Norris or Bruce Lee taking part in a tournament with their life on the line because they felt slighted by people's perception of them. Whatever your opinion of the Johnny Cage character it's an attitude that earns his place here. In the original timeline Johnny has returned from the dead more times than any character; regarded in time as one of Earthrealm's greatest warriors and leading them in the Battle of Armageddon. Not convinced yet; how about the fact that Johnny Cage won Celebrity Smash TV? That's right; Mortal Kombat and Smash TV take place in the same universe. Bet you didn't know that.
