2. Gravity Gun - Half-Life 2
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L65frfH4JSI We decided to leave out Valve's Portal Gun because, given how you don't really use it to kill anyone, it isn't really that badass, but we absolutely had to include Half-Life 2's Gravity Gun, because it's a badass weapon that actually gets even more awesome when we reach the end of the game. Physics has been one of the most impressively improved elements in video games in the last decade, and it's games like Half-Life 2 that helped continually raise the bar. The introduction of this weapon early on in the game meant that players were able to grab objects such as disc-blades and use them as weapons to fire at enemies, and also pick up various items to shield themselves from bullets when the chips were down. Also, items such as explosive barrels suddenly became more useful, as you could hurl them about at will rather than have to strategically use them to blow up whoever was standing near them. At the climax of the game, though, your gun gets an upgrade, one that we were crossing our fingers for during the entire game; you're able to use the gun to fling people about, making for one of the most stupefyingly entertaining climaxes to any game ever.
