10 Most Beloved Supporting Characters In The Legend Of Zelda
9. Ezlo
In truth, most of Link's companions are friendly beings that offer him support and guidance throughout his travels but not all of Link's friends are quite like Ezlo.
The Minish Cap is hailed as one of the best handheld Zelda titles and the titular cap sits atop Link's head after his introduction in the game's opening scenes. The cap is fiendishly similar to Link's usual headwear albeit with the addition of a duck-like face and the ability to communicate with Link whenever it sees fit.
Why can it do this? Because the evil Vaati transformed the elderly Minish Sage Ezlo into the cap, of course. As such, Ezlo is somewhat grumpy about his situation and generally treats Link like a naive child, even though he willingly undertakes the quest to defeat Vaati, restore the power of the Picori Sword and return Ezlo to his normal Minish form.
Across the course of the adventure, Ezlo gives Link the power to shrink down to the size of the Minish and acts as a parachute when Link is thrown into the air by whirlwinds, much the same as The Wind Waker's Deku Leaf or Breath of the Wild's Glider.
Pairing Link with a slightly less cheery companion was a refreshing change and it's a shame we have never seen Ezlo in another title, up to now.
