Malon and her father preside over Lon Lon Ranch, and were first introduced in Ocarina of Time... at least as Malon & Talon.
Due to the tricky nature of the Zelda timeline and all of the reincarnation/alternate universe stuff, Malon and Talon had previously appeared (in a fashion) as Marin & Tarin on Koholint Island in Link's Awakening and there is a good case that Marin should be the one on this list.
However, Malon's role in Ocarina of Time is to provide Link with his trusted steed, Epona, and there's some fan theory magic that makes her so very wholesome and essential to the timeline overall. Not sure where this is going? Let's look at the facts.
In the Child Timeline, Link is victorious over Ganon and is sent back in time with all of his memories by Princess Zelda but this Link laments that he will never be remembered as a hero and becomes the Hero's Shade in Twilight Princess to pass on his knowledge to his horse wrangling descendent...
The implication is that Link followed up on Talon's offer to marry his daughter and they raised a family together - you can't get much more wholesome than that. Malon is utterly beloved by most fans, thanks to this theory and her wonderful singing voice.
