10 Most Brutally Hard Levels In Dark Souls History

8. Frigid Outskirts

I don't know about you, but when I play video games, I generally like to see what I'm doing. I know, what a crazy concept.

From Software, however, didn't share that same sentiment when turning on the snow machine for Dark Souls II's third and final piece of DLC. An optional area in the add-on, Frigid Outskirts' extremely hazardous weather essentially amounts to putting on a blindfold, being shoved into a freezer the size of a small town and then being asked to escape.

Granted, arctic expeditions have probably had to contend with worse weather conditions over the years, but this is Dark Souls - you're not alone out there in the sub-zero temperatures.

Frozen Reindeer - not the friendly red-nosed type that'll placidly eat a carrot out of your hand - can emerge from the freezing fog like impossible-to-spot specters at any point during your quest from point A to B, eager to put a hoof-shaped dent in your face without a second thought.

My advice? Don't bother. What awaits you at the edge of the blizzard just isn't worth the effort.
