10 Most Brutally Hard Levels In Dark Souls History

7. Blighttown

Blight Town
From Software

There's a reason why every Dark Souls player in the history of ever always picks the Master Key as their starting gift. I mean, every other option is borderline useless anyway, but opting not to take full advantage of From Software's generosity and unlocking the shortcut into Blighttown will make your journey into the bowels of Lordran more hellish than you could ever imagine.

I'm not a religious man, but I can only imagine that Blighttown is a damn good representation of Heaven's polar opposite, not least because every second spent traversing its rickety scaffolding and thick, poisonous bog feels like an eternity of punishment. And my god, those toxic blowdart shooters; when eating a pie made out of moldy excrement ranks among one of the best ways to offset being killed off by fast-acting poison, you know you're in a dark place.

Thankfully, unlike its biblical counterpart, you can actually escape Blighttown once you've dealt with the horror that it houses, but you'll need to retrace your steps to do so - Bonfire warping at this point is naught but a dream.
