Throughout the GTA franchise, several characters have cropped up who are genuinely likeable people, they just happen to be involved with some very bad folks, or make some poor decisions which end up defining their lives. Enter Victor Vance, who is the very definition of this kind of figure in the GTA cannon. In GTA: Vice City, gamers learned about Vic via his brother, the pretty damn sharp Lance Vance. Right at the start of the game, Vic is apparently killed during a drug deal gone wrong, which is really the last people heard of the character right up until the spin-off title, 'Vice City Stories' was released on PSP. In that game, Victor Vance is the main character, one who is sucked into a criminal underworld as the story progresses. When it comes down to it, Victor isn't a bad man, but he allows himself to become one. It's fascinating to watch the difference between his personality at the start of the game (where he flips out at a corrupt superior in the military) and near the end of it (where he's involved in some pretty shady deals with some rather horrendous human beings). This kind of progression directly speaks to the user's own mental split between doing the right thing and just causing havoc when playing GTA.
