3. The Debut Of Movie Sonic

Thankfully Sega and Paramount responded to the sheer amount of backlash to this, turning the design around and doing right by the fans. But the original version of Sonic for his big-screen debut?

That was some straight-up nightmare fuel.

The original version of movie Sonic had human teeth, beady separated eyes, various differently coloured parts of his fur rather than gloves, and a general look of a small child in a suit, than a believable creature.

Feedback was... strong, to say the least. Fans and newcomers alike couldn't refrain from laughing and thinking the whole thing was one big joke, and within hours there were fan edits showing how the character model could - and should - have been done.

It led to a still-believed conspiracy theory that this version was intentionally so bad, so when Paramount and Sega "got it right", we'd all cheer, as we were part of the change.

Whilst that is ludicrous (why sabotage your own film when you could lead with your best foot instead?), the above version of Sonic is resigned to the annals of Hollywood history as a catastrophic lapse in judgement.
