6. Mass Effect 3
Mass Effect 3 is on this list, but not for the obvious reason. Yes, fans were outraged at the generic end that took very little notice of all the choices that fans made over the three games. But grievances aside, the journey alone made the game's climax an emotional, and sorrowful agenda. The ending revolves around three characters, Shepard, whom the player has been controlling and relating to from the very beginning, Commander Anderson, who's also been in it from the beginning, and antagonist supreme; the Illusive Man. The Illusive man's realisation of indoctrination was a nice twist, while Anderson's death pulled hard on the heart strings. But the real kicker came as you made the final choice of the game. No matter what you chose, you were killing Shepard. Killing yourself. For the sake of the universe you were laying waste to a character you'd known for a fair few years, and if that isn't a bit of a depress-fest, you're not human.
