1. Sweet Tooth (Twisted Metal Series)

His real name is Needles Kane, but let's be honest - we all know him as Sweet Tooth.

Arguably the most iconic clown in gaming, this maniacal killer has been the face of the Twisted Metal franchise for pretty much its entire run, with his flame-topped head and impossibly tall grin making him a standout figure not just in his own series, but in the entire PlayStation family.

There's more to him than just hellish looks, too. His twisted backstory is oddly fascinating to watch, with the 2012 PS3 game revealing that he used to be an ordinary ice cream man called Marcus, who became possessed by a dark force that was lurking deep within him.

From here, Marcus donned a clown mask, set his head ablaze - somehow - and butchered his own family, completing his transformation into the Sweet Tooth that we all know today.

With the Joker, at least you could have an interesting conversation before he blows your head off. But with Sweet Tooth? Your best hope is that he lops your head off in one clean cut, so that you don't feel as much pain.
