Another divisive character, Kokichi seems to take great pleasure in riling and antagonising the other characters. He even goes so far, as to gleefully lie in class trials, despite the risk of getting himself and the others killed.

However, despite his self-proclaimed reputation as a liar, Kokichi is revealed to have more complex motivations than being obnoxious. This is revealed throughout the game, but particularly within Chapter 5, where after framing himself as a villain, he orchestrates an elaborate murder mystery.

This results in even Monokuma not being able to deduce who has been murdered via the hydraulic press. With Kokichi manipulating the case and having secured Kaito's co-operation this leads to a case that is difficult to forget.

This is primarily because either Kokichi or Kaito has definitely been crushed by the press, as is evidenced by video footage and a large splatter of blood. The idea of someone willingly deciding to die this way is not only disturbing, but also acts as a new twist within the franchise. It suits Kokichi's contrary nature perfectly.

Overall, despite his slippery nature, Kokichi had a significant influence and effect within Danganronpa V3 and the game is a very different experience without him in it.
