10 Most Disturbing Video Game Commercials

8. Sega CD - Shattering Your Senses

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O21eoNf0E3A Maybe Sega knew from the start that it had to do something radical to make people pay attention to its Sega CD extension for the Mega Drive. And what better way to do this than by having an archetypal Angry Black Man berating a poor person's DiCaprio through a TV screen, before pulverising him with a nightmarish montage of clips from FMV video games. Sure, you could say it's easy to laugh off FMV games today, but no one liked them back then either, because playing them was like being forced into the director's seat of a sh**ty daytime soap opera. The best thing this ad did for the Sega CD was too frantic to give you a chance of understanding just how dreary it was play a Sega CD game. "Do you want to see more?" says Angry Black Guy. No, I think I've seen quite enough, thanks. That said, hang in their for the Jack Nicholson Joker-face at the very end of the ad - it's something special.
