10 Most Hated Video Game Characters Of All Time

3. Shao Kahn

NetherRealm

Shao Kahn is one of the characters most synonymous with the Mortal Kombat franchise. This iconic villain is the ruler of Outworld and spends the first three games in the series trying to conquer Earthrealm through the Mortal Kombat tournament.

It€™'s a wonder he didn'€™t succeed, because Shao Kahn has got to be one of the most unfairly difficult bosses in any video game ever made. The iconic villain was conceived in a time when video games were designed to be as punishing as possible as a means to tempt gamers into dumping countless quarters into arcade machines. As such, he is an enormous jerk who destroys all but the most dedicated and patient players. He can take everything that you throw at him and come at you with an unlimited number of hammers to the face. You can spend hours fighting this guy and get beaten every time. It€™s enough to make you punch a hole in the nearest wall.

Even the 2011 Mortal Kombat made Shao Kahn frustratingly hard to beat, though still no where near as hard as classic Shao Kahn. Whether you'€™ve successfully defeated him numerous times or have yet to do so even once, all who have faced Shao Kahn curse his name and his stupid skull mask. Sure, he may be a megalomaniacal monster, but the real reason anyone hates Shao Kahn is because he is a cheap, overpowered, and cocky meathead.
