10 Most Hotly Anticipated Video Game Sequels

6. Resident Evil 6

Publisher: Capcom Developer: Capcom Platform: XBox 360/PS3/PC Release Date: 2nd October 2012 There's no denying it, there have been some crimes committed in the name of Resident Evil in the past few years - chiefly with the painfully limited Raccoon City - and it seemed for a while that Capcom had forgotten what made the series great in the first place, allowing their heads to be turned by the more muscular fun of Gears of War. But with Resident Evil 6, we've been promised an eye-catching sequel that will amalgamate all of the disparate gameplay types that have sprung up in numerous off-shoots, uniting them under one banner that channels the horror spirit of the original games as well as the action-led tone of the later ones. The decision to have three different gameplay types within one game, dependent on which character is leading the action, is a bold one, and if it doesn't work, this might well be the end for Resident Evil. But from what has been released so far, that doesn't seem to be the case, with gameplay looking crisp and engaging, and some genuinely innovative elements that you might not expect from a game series already so high into the sequels. Capcom need a winner with Resident Evil 6, and they're pushing a lot of effort into it, thanks to a 600 strong development team and the kind of focus on success that has been all too apparently absent in some of the latter franchise additions. Hopefully that concentrated effort will reap rewards. http://youtu.be/EJWHN3qWdiw You can follow all of our Resident Evil 6 content by heading over to our dedicated Resident Evil 6 hub-page.
