10 Most Hotly Anticipated Video Game Sequels

2. Halo 4

Publisher: Microsoft Studios Developer: 343 Industries Platform: Xbox 360 Exclusive Release Date: 6th November 2012 Halo 4 isn't just the continuation of one of the most popular and widely acclaimed games franchises in gaming history, it is also a major new project on its own accord. After later additions to the franchise like Halo Wars, ODST and Reach, flattered to deceive some, and flat out disappointed others, and former developers Bungie now moved on, 343 have a major chance to reinvigorate the property, creating a game that suitably fits how much of a cultural phenomenon it has become. And the new development team are making all the right noises, promising to make a new Halo but also retaining the underlying spirit of the original. Halo 4 will be more adult and more story-oriented than previous titles, with more cinematic sensibilities to really show off the sublime looking environments and no compromise on gameplay. It's a big, bold step for the series - and one fitting of a whole new development team who thankfully decided not to completely reboot - and for the first time in a long while, it feels right to be excited about a new Halo game. There's also the promise of new cooperative multiplayer, which is a fairly major addition to the series... http://youtu.be/nn89_AXCRUY You can follow all of our Halo 4 content by heading over to our dedicated Halo 4 hub-page.
