10 Most Hotly Anticipated Video Game Sequels

1. GTA V

Publisher: Rockstar Games Developer: Rockstar North Platform: TBC Release Date: TBA (2012?) Of course it had to come in at number one. Even though Rockstar have so far been relatively tight-lipped on their upcoming open-world behemoth, hype has reached white heat levels, and anything posted on the net dedicated to even the smallest morsels of news is being lapped up feverishly. And it's for good reason: GTA V is The Dark Knight Rises of video games - a sequel to a major franchise, in fantastically assured hands and boasting a promise of out-stripping the last chapter, which itself was a classic. Though we've seen very little so far, the game looks great, with an appropriately huge open-world environment, and the whisper of multiple playable characters (oh please make it so) and a typically vast array of vehicles, on road, sea and in the air. GTA V will herald the arrival of the next generation of consoles - though not, it seems as a flagship launch title: in other words, the game will be the 360's last big swan-song before it makes way for big brother the 720. It's easy to forget exactly how many innovations this series has launched for gamers, and we can hopefully see GTA V as a culmination of everything that this generation has already seen, one last assault on the senses, pushing the limits of this gen. The suggestion of 32-player multiplayer is certainly a good starting point for that. You can follow all of our GTA V content by heading over to our dedicated GTA V hub-page. What do you think gamers?
