9. The Face Doom
Doom, being a fairly iconic game on the whole, understandably boasts its fair share of iconic images. However Id argue that none are more iconic than the disembodied face of you, the player, or at least your avatar in the game. Fans will remember the various iterations of this face, which went from calm to frustrated to furious to bloody and beaten as you progressed through the varying levels of carnage Doom had to throw at you. Doom caused a huge stir in its day thanks to its insane levels of violence, but in spite of that - perhaps even indirectly because of that - millions of gamers have placed it highly on their list of greatest games of all time. And I bet each and every one of them thinks back fondly on Doom's ever present Face and smiles with nostalgia.
